Angelkova: Our Tourism Is Literally Not Functioning, We Are Preparing New Measures For Its Rescue

“It’s not true that I work against the industry and organizations. I understand the tension. The sector is one of the most affected – it is literally not functioning right now.” This was stated by the Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova on Nova TV .

The tourism industry has demanded her resignation. The reasons are the lack of emergency strategy and dialogue with the industry. In addition, the industry believe that the measures taken so far are inadequate, and it is already too late to save it.

“There is tension and it is understandable against the backdrop of the crisis that no one expected. There is a headquarters that was set up on February 3. There is no way we can meet the requirements of only one people who want the measures to work at any cost. it is important to find a balance. Let’s not look at tourism as a side sector. It is part of the Bulgarian economy and is most affected. The government’s measures are affecting it, including opportunities for interest-free loans, “she explained.

Angelkova emphasized that many of the operational programs are aimed specifically at sectors such as tourism. A grant scheme for SMEs is forthcoming. These new measures will benefit restaurateurs, hoteliers, tour operators.

“More than 12,000 users are members of the consumer organization. 48% of those applying for the 60/40 measure are from the tourism industry. Each measure is discussed between ministers and associations. It is important to provide a breath of air for workers as well. a measure to start immediately after a state of emergency and to help workers. It is important for me to do my job. We are certainly not perfect with our colleagues and every day there is a need for a change in the measures, “Angelkova added and denied intention to file a scrap a.

She recommended that consumers use a tourist voucher for a period of 24 months, not 12.
