Bank Lending Increasing

The value of Bulgarian banks’ outstanding loans to the non-government sector rose 3.9% on the year to 51.6 billion levs ($31.6 billion/26.4 billion levs) at the end of March, from 3.3% annual growth in the previous quarter, Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) data showed on Monday.

The number of loans provided by Bulgarian banks to the non-government sector stood at 2.78 million at end-March, up by an annual 0.6%, BNB said in a statement.

Outstanding loans to non-financial corporations totalled 31.7 billion levs at the end of March, while loans to households and non-profit institutions, serving households amounted to 19.98 billion levs.
