Bulgaria Invests In MiG-29 and Su-25 War Planes

The Bulgarian government decided on 28 November to invest BGN128.3 million ($74.5 million) in the long-term maintenance support of its MiG-29 and Su-25 fleets.

The MiG-29 maintenance will cost BGN45.7 million, which will be complemented by another BGN26 million already allocated in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) budget. The maintenance will be conducted by original equipment manufacturer Russian Aircraft Corporation (RSK MiG) under a framework agreement inked in March 2018. According to the Bulgarian government, the funds are sufficient to cover the continued operation of six MiG-29A single-seat and two MiG-29UB twin-seat fighters flying 900 hours a year until 2020.
