Bulgaria’s economy is expected to grow by 2.9% in 2026 and accelerate to 3.5% in 2027 before slowing to 3% in 2028, according to an October economic outlook by consultancy EY cited by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
The forecast indicates that Bulgaria will outperform the European Union and eurozone economies throughout the three-year period, although inflation is expected to remain higher.
Under EY’s baseline scenario, Bulgaria’s economy will expand by 3.5% in 2027. The consultancy’s adverse scenario projects growth of 2.9%, while its optimistic outlook puts the figure at 3.7%.
EY expects the EU economy to grow by 1.4% in 2026, followed by 1.7% in 2027 and 1.4% in 2028. Growth in the eurozone is forecast at 1% this year, 1.4% next year and 1.3% in 2028.
Bulgaria’s annual inflation stood at 5.6% in September, as price pressures persisted, partly due to higher energy costs affecting tourism-related services.
