Prime Minister Rumen Radev said Bulgaria is seeking to strengthen its economic and investment ties with Germany, particularly with the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, during a meeting with a delegation led by Thomas Strobl, chairman of the regional parliament.

Radev described Germany as one of Bulgaria’s key economic and investment partners and expressed the government’s willingness to organize a business forum that would introduce leading Baden-Württemberg companies, especially those not yet operating in Bulgaria, to investment opportunities in the country. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the business environment and creating better conditions for investors.

The prime minister welcomed the continued interest shown by German companies in the Bulgarian market, saying their decision to expand operations in the country reflects the strong potential of bilateral economic relations. He added that German investments are valuable not only because of the high volume of trade between the two countries but also because they represent an effective model of cooperation between government, business and society.

The talks also focused on expanding cooperation in several strategic sectors, with particular attention given to the defense industry. Radev pointed to existing joint projects between Bulgaria and Germany, citing the construction of multifunctional modular patrol ships for the Bulgarian Navy and the partnership with Rheinmetall as examples of successful collaboration.

Beyond defense, the discussions covered opportunities to deepen cooperation in education, scientific research, culture and tourism. Both sides highlighted the benefits of expanding dual education and vocational training programs, while also recognizing the contribution of the large Bulgarian community living and studying in Germany, describing it as an important bridge that continues to strengthen relations between the two countries.
