Wizz Air, the fastest-growing airline in Europe and the leading airline in Bulgaria, today announced that it is adding a new summer destination to its Sofia network. Sofia – Zakynthos is another exciting route that the company will launch from Bulgaria on June 13, 2021. Tickets are already on sale.
Zakynthos Island, also called Zante, is the third largest of the Ionian Islands and one of the most interesting places in Greece. Its divinely beautiful beaches and abundance of natural wonders do not leave anyone indifferent. There are countless reasons to visit Zakynthos. Blue caves located in the north of the island are one of the mandatory reasons to stop over!
Called so because of the stunning turquoise color of the water inside them, which is reflected on the rocks, the caves were discovered in 1897 and today are a hugely popular landmark.
Beautiful local beaches, of course, are another magnet – with their fine, white volcanic sand, turquoise blue water, bright sun, white rocks and water entertainment, they will meet not just your expectations, but your dreams. For example, The Beach of Navagio, or shipwreck beach, is a truly amazing place.
Located near the picturesque mountain village of Volimes, this is one of the most beautiful (and photographed) beaches in entire Greece, where you can see the remains of a real shipwrecked ship. It is also worth visiting Marathonisi Island, which is located in the middle of Laganas Bay. Not only does its shape resemble a turtle, but it is also one of the places where the famous large sea turtles nest, which today are an endangered species.
However you decide to spend your holiday on Zakynthos, the island will tempt and captivate you and with hospitality, great seafood, Ouzo and splendid nightlife.
Wizz Air also kindly reminds passengers to familiarize themselves with the stringent health and hygiene measures put in place by the carrier to protect passengers and crew. While the HEPA filters on all Wizz Air planes already filter 99.97% of viruses and bacteria in the air, the company’s new protocols contain physical distance measures, provide an ultra-clean environment on board and limit any unnecessary social contacts so WIZZ passengers feel confident that they are traveling safely to the desired destination.
Paulina Gosk, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air, commented: “We are excited to add Zakynthos to our Sofia network and provide a new opportunity to our Bulgarian customers for an unforgettable summer holiday in beloved Greece! Counting in Mykonos, Santorini, Chania, and Corfu, this is the fifth summer Greek route that Wizz Air will offer from Sofia. We remain strongly committed to the development of our Bulgarian network, local tourism, and the provision of increasingly accessible travel opportunities for all. We are confident that our super attractive tariffs to Greece and our enhanced safety measures will contribute to the recovery of the tourism sector. Wizz Air’s smiling crew awaits you aboard one of most environment-friendly fleets in Europe.”
