Bulgaria is Turkey’s second most important trading partner among its neighbors, BGNES reported, citing official Turkish statistics.
Our southeastern neighbor has exported goods and services to our country worth $ 1.6 billion in the first half of 2021. This puts us in second place after Iraq, where Turkish exports for the first six months of this year amounted to 3.9 billion dollars.
We are followed by Greece with 1.2 billion dollars, Iran with 0.9 billion dollars, and Syria and Georgia share the last place with 0.6 billion dollars each.
In total, for the period from January to June 2021, Turkey exported goods and services to its neighbors worth a total of $ 9.1 billion. This represents an increase of 36.5% over the same period last year, when exports were worth 6.6 billion dollars.
The sectors with the largest growth of exports are: 1. chemical industry – 1.5 billion dollars; cereals, beans and vegetable oils – $ 1.1 billion; steel – $ 760 million.
The data show that the Turkish economy is recovering from the coronavirus pandemic, which virtually stifled economic activity last year.
